The SIDBI Swavalamban Chair at Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur, established under the SAHAS initiative (SIDBI Assistance for Harnessing Aspiring Swavalambis), is a pioneering research and action-oriented platform aimed at empowering small businesses, promoting grassroots innovation, and addressing regional SME challenges.

The Chair strengthens the university’s entrepreneurial landscape by fostering solutions-led research, innovation, and capacity-building. Focused on creating long-term impact, it has conducted 70+ events, supported 30+ startups, provided ideation grants worth ₹20 lakhs, and collaborated with over a dozen SMEs to bridge the gap between academia and industry.

The Chair actively funds research projects in emerging areas such as precision agriculture, sustainable energy, AI for MSMEs, and traditional crafts revival. Publications and policy whitepapers, including those from the Rajasthan MSME Summit ‘Desert Bloom’, highlight the Chair’s thought leadership in inclusive entrepreneurship.

Signature initiatives like the Bagru Cluster Revival and CODE RED Design-a-thon showcase its community-driven, innovation-first approach. Functioning under the guidance of faculty and ecosystem leaders, the Chair continues to catalyze entrepreneurial thinking, R&D, and MSME-centric policymaking.

The SIDBI Swavalamban Chair further solidifies VGU’s position as a hub for regional innovation and enterprise development by nurturing visionary ideas that empower India's micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) ecosystem.
