Established in the year 2013, the Department of Mechanical Engineering has always believed in delievering excellence. With experienced faculty members like our Dean & Mr. Rahul Goyal, the department has class of its own.

Mechanical Engineering is one of the core branches of engineering discipline having major sub branches like design, thermal, automobile, industrial, automation, production, manufacturing engineering, and energy engineering. It is arguably the broadest of any engineering branch. Technologies like CAD, CAE, CIM, and PLM etc have been the driving factors for evaluation of product life cycle by revolutionizing conceptualization, design detailing analysis and manufacturing procedure. All the workshops and laboratories are equipped with quality machines and equipments. Complete safety is ensured while the students work or learn on the machine and equipment. All labs are quite spacious, properly ventilated and comfortable for learning and performing experiments. The Mechanical students are also engaged to learn various design software in collaboration with institutes/organizations of repute in the college campus itself.

  • Industrial Robotics lab, which is established in collaboration with Mitsubishi Group, a autonomous Japanese multinational company.
  • The workshop has a foundry shop, with related testing equipments, a number of welding stations, carpentry, fitting and sheet metal shops.
  • Advanced Welding laboratory is available with equipped equipments.
  • Department has a large number of actual cut-sectional models and equipments. These can be taken to the classroom or studied in the laboratories.
  • Cluster of 3-D displays in concerned labs which indicating the working and functions of set-up/Machines.
  • Promoting students to take Industry based / Sponsored projects.
  • Promoting for entrepreneurship by establishing EDP Cell in the Mechanical Engineering Department.

Theory of machine & Vibration Lab

Mechanisms form the basis of any machine and it is an assemblage of rigid bodies so that they move upon each other with definite relative motion.

Objectives of this Theory of Machines lab are to impart practical knowledge on design and analysis of mechanisms for the specified type of motion in a machine. With the study of rigid bodies motions and forces for the transmission systems, machine kinematics and dynamics can be well understood.

Demonstration exercises are provided with wide varieties of transmission element models to understand machine kinematics. Various experiments with governors, gyroscopes, balancing machines and universal vibration facilities are available to understand machine dynamics.

Applied Mechanics Lab

The objective of the lab is to perform experiments which are related to engineering mechanics subject (Statics and Dynamics) in order to understand the behavior of different mechanical equipments which students study in theory.

Automobile Engineering Lab

This lab is common for mechanical and automobile engineering students with facilities for the group of 30 students to carry out experiments independently. The lab is well-equipped and enables students to understand the fundamentals of Automotive Engineering which includes basic structure, body style and wheel & tyre assembly.

Major Equipment in Automobile Engineering Lab are:- Chassis of an automobile, synchromesh gear box, Hydraulic and Mechanical brake, Vehicle lighting system, Wheel and tyre assembly, Wind screen and Clutches.

Thermal Engineering Lab

Thermal engineering is a branch of science that covers energy conversion from one form to another, working of IC engines principles of refrigeration and air conditioning etc. The objective of this laboratory is to provide the student a good environment to understand some very important concepts and applications in the field of IC engines and refrigeration.

In this lab students learn the workings of various Internal Combustion Engines like two Stroke one Cylinder Scooter Engine; four Stroke one Cylinder Scooter Engine; four stroke four cylinder Diesel Actual Engine. In addition, students get an idea about working operation, construction details of gasoline and diesel engine systems like fuel supply system, lubrication system, cooling system, ignition system etc.

I.C. Engine Lab

This lab is for both undergraduates and graduate students. Some of the experiments which are performed by under-graduate students are performance studies of both C.I. and S.I. engines, etc. Moreover studies on the glorify values, exhaust gas characteristics, extensive studies of bio-diesel with both engines are done by post-graduate students in their respective project works. And besides the laboratory classes, the determination of calorific value for different fuels are done by some consultancy in this laboratory.

Fluid Mechanics & Fluid Machines Lab

A large number of experiments could be performed in the laboratory to demonstrate the principles of hydraulics and fluid mechanics deals with the different experiments. The main objective of this lab is to build fundamental concepts combined with strong analytical and problem solving abilities that would form the backbone of many other subjects in higher educations.

Gas Dynamics Lab

The main aim of this lab is:

  • To teach students the basic concepts and analytical tools of thermodynamics, and how to apply them in practice.
  • To introduce students to the conservation laws of fluid dynamics, and how to apply them to practical fluid flows.
  • To provide students with a firm understanding of the key physical phenomena involved under compressible flow conditions, and how these result from the governing thermodynamic and conservation principles.
  • To teach students the essential concepts and analytical methods involved in one- and two-dimensional compressible flows, and how to apply these to practical problems

Mechanical Measurement & Instrument Lab

The lab is made up of eight stations. Each station consists of a Core 2 Duo PC, powered bread board, power supply, computer data acquisition system, oscilloscope, and digital multimeter. A distribution system is available for transmitting voltage signals from anywhere in the lab to all eight stations. The lab also has standards for voltage, pressure, flow, and temperature measurements. The standards are used for calibration purposes.

Production Engineering Lab

To understand modern manufacturing operations, including their capabilities, limitations, and how to design for lowest cost. Learn how to analyze products and be able to improve their manufacturability and lower costs. Understand the relationship between customer desires, functional requirements, product materials, product design, and manufacturing process selection. Be able to examine a product and determine how it was manufactured and why.

Workshop

Students will able to know basic workshop processes such as Wood working, Sheet metal, welding, plumbing and fitting & operate, control different machines and equipments. Students will able to identify, operate and control various machines, read and interpret job drawing and Identify, select and use various marking, measuring, holding, striking and cutting tools & equipments. To read job drawing, identify and select proper material, tools, equipments and machine. Ability to select proper parameters (like cutting speed, feed, depth cut use of lubricants) in machine and ability to set tools, work piece, and machines for desired operations. Ability to complete job as per job drawing in allotted time and ability to use safety equipment and follow safety procedures during operations with hands-on experience.

Strength of Material(SOM) Lab

The objective of the strength of materials lab is to demonstrate the basic experiments. In this lab the experiments are performed to measure the properties of the materials such as impact strength, tensile strength, compressive strength, hardness, ductility etc.

Major Equipments principles in the area of strength and mechanics of materials and Strength of Materials Lab:- Universal testing machine, Torsion testing machine, Impact testing machine, Erichsen sheet metal testing machine, Brinell hardness testing machine, Rockwell hardness testing machine, Winch crab, Screw Jack etc.

Heat & Mass Transfer Lab

This lab is a part of curriculum of mechanical 3rd year students with facilities for the group of 30 students to carry out experiments independently. The lab is well-equipped with calibrated equipments and enables students to understand the basics of modes heat transfer i.e. conduction, convection and radiation.

Major Equipments in Heat Transfer Lab are:- Thermal conductivity of metallic rod apparatus, Thermal conductivity of insulating powder apparatus, Guarded hot plate method, Pin-Fin Apparatus, Vertical tube loosing heat under natural convection, Emissivity measurement apparatus, Stefan Boltzmann apparatus, Parallel and counter flow heat exchanger, Two- phase heat transfer unit etc.

CAD/CAM Lab

Computer-Aided Design (CAD) is used to design curves and figures in 2D; or curves, surfaces and objects in 3D. The applications include designing in automotive, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries, architectural design, strength and dynamic analysis of assemblies, research in computer graphics, etc. This lab is equipped with latest design and development software such AUTO - CAD, PRO-E, .Also this lab has a unique feature of CNC machine with a sole computer dedicated to it where the machining work is done with G-code and M-code.
